I mostly remember Blame for beating the unstoppable Zenyatta in the 2010 Breeders’Cup Classic!
Zenyatta was 19-0 and this would have made her 20th win. Had she won, she would have become the first North American horse to retire undefeated with 20 wins. But Blame beat her! I’ll never forget this moment. In my eyes, who was Blame?? Well, here we are… buying one of his offsprings.

New to the SoS stable, meet this beautiful filly by the great stallion, Twirling Candy and out of the mare My Day. Purchased for $575,000 from Wavertree Stables at the OBS March sale, she will head to California to be trained by Mark Glatt. We’re so happy to add her to our stable!
A few fun facts about Twirling Candy:
Twirling Candy is a sire of eight G1 winners and six millionaires, highlighted by Concrete Rose, Rombauer (Preakness winner), and more. Trainer Mark Glatt has had plenty of success with the offspring of Twirling Candy, having trained G1 winner Collision Illusion and G3 winner Law Abidin Citizen.
More Info.
How she got her name. In April 2024 while at the OBS Ocala Breeders Sales, one of the farms asked me (Ana) if she wanted a margarita. And of course I said yes. Our trainer, Mark Glatt turned to me and said "You're a Margarita Girl" and I said, "I sure am." And then he said, "Hey that's the name of the Twirling Candy filly!

Her daddy Midshipman was foaled March 26, 2006. He was the Champion for 2 year-old of Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Grade 1. Same year, he won the Del Mar Futurity. Due to soft bone tissue he was retired to stud in 2009.
Her Mama, Cafe Bella foaled in 2017 by Medaglia d’Oro. Medaglia d’Oro made over $5.75 million dollars in his career. Won Grade 1 Travers Stakes as 3 year-old. And came 2nd in the Belmont Stakes and Breeders’s Cup Classic.
On occasion and when we see an opportunity fit we ask one of our friends and family to help us name a horse. We also take note on how much they participate with us in this crazy sport of horse racing, so this made it even easier to pick the appropriate people to help us name her.
With daddy as Midshipman, we thought of our young Navy friend Ty Sterk & his wife Maddie. We thought they would be fun and creative to get a shot at naming this filly. And they did! They gave us a variety of names - super creative and the consensus was— Nay V Belle—
I also have to brag that we met Ty as an 11 year-old with two siblings, Colt and Jake. They were our backdoor neighbors in Idaho for 8 yrs. The entire family remain the best neighbors we’ve ever had!

Omaha Beach succeeded with several Grade 1 and 2 races including the Arkansas Derby, Santa Anita Sprint Championship, and the Malibu S.
Background story on how he got his name:
Meet Santarena!! Holy Sand! So appropriate for the son of an Omaha Beach Champion horse in various Grade 1 races!
There is no doubt that these soldiers who gave their lives 79 years ago when they landed in Normandy - on Omaha Beach turned their ultimate sacrifice into Holy Sand!
As you know, we love to get our #1 fans involved in helping us name our horses! And we thank Pao and Sebas (my Costa Rican cousins) for this amazing name. While we visited Costa Rica in December 2022, Sebas and Pao took us to this beautiful area in Guanacaste called Las Catalinas. And a hotel is named Santarena. She remembers Hans saying, “take a picture of it because that’s what we can call a horse one day.” Not realizing that indeed it would be used to honor the brave men and women 79 years ago almost to the date June 6, 1944. Pao wrote to us to remind us of this name!! Thank you!!
Today a region in Normandy is called Sainte-Honorine-des-Pertes- meaning Holy Honor of Losses. SoS says Holy Sand- Santarena.
She has a name! Meet Sexzie!
